Turtle marathon on Sunday

The readers of The Korea Times are encouraged to come to Mt. Nam in downtown Seoul for a stroll this Sunday and participate in the 427th Turtle Marathon. The monthly event organized by the Hankook Ilbo, a sister paper of The Korea Times, has drawn more than 120,000 people since 1978.

Lee Chang-ho, chairman of the Korea Duck Association, will lead the walkathon and winners of the 2012 Miss Korea beauty pageant will also participate.

Upon finishing the walk, there will be a prize draw with duck meat, tickets for the percussion show ``Drum Cat: The Festival,’’ Ivana Helsinki leather wallets, books, accessories and more up for grabs.

Middle and high school students who participate in the cleanup afterwards will receive certification for two hours of volunteer work. Admission is free. For more information, visit turtle.hankooki.com.
