(77) Fortune for 2010: Gyeong-in (Tiger)

By Janet Shin

``Gyeong-in'' represents the year 2010.

``Gyeong'' is metal and white in terms of the color of the five elements.

``In'' is wood and green when it is explained in terms of the five elements. But it is more widely known by the zodiac sign ``tiger.'' So people usually call a year of Gyeong-in a year of the ``white tiger.''

Its properties also suggest growth and expansion so it usually reflects desire for success and competitiveness in leadership.

According to saju theory, ``in'' is the third terrestrial branch among the 12, but it denotes starting a new year and a new season. A year starts from the ``in'' month in the lunar calendar and it is also the beginning of the spring season and the beginning of a day.

Let's look again at what we learned about the 12 terrestrial branches.

We classified branches into three groups:

The first group is the living place - in, sin, sa, hae,

The second group is the flourishing place - ja, o, myo, yu,

The third group is the repository the place - jin, sul, chuk, mi.

The letters from the living place are aggressive, positive and initiative, while the letters from the repository place are inspirational, artistic and faithful. For example, 2009 was the year of gi-chuk, which was one of the years of repository places, while 2010 is one of the years of living places.

People who have in (tiger), sin (monkey), sa (snake), hae (pig) in their saju are usually active and have a tendency to be revolutionary leaders. They value loyalty and justice. They pursue their goals enthusiastically once set. See if you or people who were born in the year of living places, especially in the year of in (2010 for gyeong in, 1998 for mu in, 1986 for byeong in, 1974 for gap in, 1962 for im in, and 1950 for gyeong in), as this may reflect a high degree of competitive. They are brave and powerful.

Overall, 2010 will be an eventful year with changes in political leaders, including the relationship between North and South Korea. Gyeong-in is the year with weakened metal energy (gyeong) in the upper stem and powerful wood energy (in) in the lower branch. Owing to the activeness of ``in'' energy, people may rush to carry out many international or domestic events but haste will cause some feuds and factions for the slowing of the gyeong stem.

Economically, the automobile industry, travel business, semiconductor and IT industry and overall exports business will be prosperous while the domestic market will remain in recession. Financial transformation or stability will still take time, owing to the weakened metal energy. Metal and water energy usually indicate capital, finance and the banking industry.

Gyeong-in is the year that ``in'' (wood) energy sprouts its power from the soil while ``gyeong'' (metal) energy weakens by the overwhelming wood power. The celestial stem (metal) tries to rule the terrestrial branch (wood), but it has a hard time governing the power from the bottom. Socially there will be a lot of efforts to improve, reform and innovate the current system, but they will have to face confrontation from other parties.

While the year of gi-chuk represents a mood of recession and endurance, the year of gyeong-in represents the changes. But trial and error are also unavoidable.

Now let's see the year's fortune by zodiac birth year.
