(36) Career Stars (I)
By Janet Shin
We consider the 10 relations in saju by the generation and restriction cycles of five elements from a person's birth record. The career star is the element that disciplines and trains the day master, so it makes the person gentle and decent.
For example, if a day master (birth day stem) is wood, the career star is metal, as the metal ax chops the wood. If the day master is metal, the career star can be the fire element that can melt the metal.
The person who has a great deal of career stars in his or her saju puts high value on position and duties and pursues them. He or she is always concerned about what others think and always tries to be perfect.
The career star shows what one's personality is. Once a person is given authority and responsibility, the disposition of the person is seen. There are many people who speak first but when they are given duties, they don't even know what to do first. So by judging the shape and condition of career star in one's saju, we may understand how the person reacts to power and social identity.
1) Family relations:
For men, the career star is their children. For women, the career star is their husband
2) Social relations:
The company or the superior that the person is working for.
3) General & best trait:
Career stars with the same yin/yang can be compared to military personnel, prosecutors, attorneys, policemen or doctors. Career stars with different yin/yang indicate occupations in public service or a general company.
Career stars with the same yin and yang signify specialized occupations, while career stars with different yin and yang more likely indicate organizational occupations.
They put high value on honor and rule. They follow the law but lack flexibility.
4) Worst traits:
They are sensitive to change in the environment. If the career star is not welcomed in one's saju, they are unsettled and can't keep their honor and pride.
For women, they don't have good relationships with their husbands, and it's not good for their health. If the career star is too strong, people are unstable in their careers. They can't be in commercial businesses and it's difficult for them to maintain a career. They might have some health and family problems.
They are so selfish that they can't get along with others, so they're lonely and sometimes violent and extreme.
Here is a saju of a lady born in 1969 (the year of chicken, metal). Her day master is gap/wood. As you can see, she has lots of career stars in her saju, which can be interpreted as her career and her husband. Even the sul/earth in her day branch is combined with sin and yu to make a big metal trine.
Looking at her stems, we see a big tree takes root in fertile earth with water on it. She's good-looking. Her family background is great and her brother even works for the Ministry of Labor as a judge.
However, the wood born in the month of metal is basically weak without the help of other wood elements. She does not have any friend stars to protect her from the restraint of sharp metal. Furthermore, the jeong/fire included in sul/earth is not strong enough to fight metal energy.
She's divorced twice, but it was not acrimonious since she can still meet her ex husbands as friends. She keeps dating other guys but she is not quite happy with any of them. Two daughters make her happy and give her a reason to make a living. They are her expression stars; the fire element for the wood/day master and play a very positive role in her saju even they are not strong enough.
She works for a company where she has lots of paper works to handle. With too much energy of career stars in her saju, she is not free from the burden of men or her career. Too much is just as bad as too little.
