363rd Turtle Marathon to be Held
For those who want to enjoy the last days of autumn on the newly upgraded Namsan Mountain, complete with its well-padded jogging tracks and wooden fences, come join us in the 363rd Turtle Marathon. As an added bonus, there is also a chance to win various prizes.
Along with regular citizens, 2007 Miss Korea finalists will also participate in the marathon and Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power President and CEO Kim Jong-shin will be the honorary head for the event.
Much like how the turtle in Aesop's fable would have completed his race, no running is involved. The event, a scenic seven-kilometer walk through the Namsan Mountain area, has taken place once a month since 1978. This event is organized by The Korea Times' sister company, the Hankook Ilbo.
Afterwards, towels provided by Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power will be distributed to all participants and raffle-winners will take home prizes that include kitchen goods and bicycles in a sideshow program led by comedian Lee Sang-yong.
Certification for two hours of volunteer work will be given to middle and high school students who participate in beautifying the environment on the day.
