Legendary violinist Gidon Kremer will hold a concert in Seoul with the Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra and Concerto Budapest Symphony Orchestra.

In a 2016 survey conducted by BBC Music Magazine, Kremer was selected as the greatest living violinist. In 1997, he founded chamber orchestra Kremerata Baltica, which consisted of 23 young musicians from the Baltic states. This concert celebrates the 20th anniversary of Kremerata Baltica, as well as the 70th birthday of Gidon Kremer. Musical pieces by J.S. Bach and Philip Glass will be performed.

‘Philadelphia Orchestra’

June 8

The Philadelphia Orchestra will visit Korea with its musical director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and have a concert at Seoul Arts Center on June 8.

Philadelphia Orchestra is among the Big Five orchestras of the United States. Since its foundation in 1900, the orchestra has served audiences at home and abroad by providing them with a distinctive musical experience and encouraging music-making. It also played a role as cultural ambassador of the U.S., being the first American orchestra to perform in China in 1973. This concert will be led by the orchestra’s musical director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, one of the most admired conductors of his generation. Mendelssohn’s violin concerto will be performed in collaboration with the orchestra’s concertmaster, David Kim, and the fifth symphony of Beethoven will be played as well.

‘Britney Live in Seoul 2017’

For the first time in Korea, American legendary pop star Britney Spears will have a live concert on June 10 at Gocheok Sky Dome.

Britney Spears, also known as the “Queen of Pop,” debuted in 1997 at age 17, and instantly gained global success. Her contribution to pop music in the late 1990s and early 2000s was appreciated with diverse awards including Grammy Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards. In 2009, she was ranked eighth overall Artist of the Decade by Billboard. She will perform her numerous worldwide hit songs in this concert.

‘G-Dragon 2017 Concert: ACT III, M.O.T.T.E'

G-Dragon will have a solo concert at Seoul World Cup Stadium on June 10.

As a rapper, singer-songwriter, record producer, and leader of Korea's top boy band Big Bang, G-Dragon has captured global attention and become one of the most popular celebrities of South Korea. In 2009, he released his first solo album, "Heartbreaker," followed by "One of a Kind" (2012) and "Coup D'Etat" (2013). He composed most of Big Bang's and his own songs, and 22 of them topped the Korean charts. In this concert, he will perform his hit songs as well as new songs that are expected to be released by early June.

‘Sting 57th& 9th Tour'

Hyundai Card Understage

For the first time in five years, British musician Sting will have a concert in Seoul on May 31 at Hyundai Card Understage.

Sting is one of the U.K.'s representative musicians. His song "Shape of My Heart" was used on the soundtrack of the film "Leon" and received international acclaim. This concert is part of his world tour celebrating the release of his 12th studio album, titled "57th & 9th." Since the concert will be held in a small theater with 400 seats, the audience will be able to watch him perform in close proximity.

A play written by Scottish author Douglas Maxwell, "Our Bad Magnet," will be staged at Daehak-ro Art One Theater until May 28

In a small Scottish town, four nine-year-old boys become friends with each other. One of them, Gordon, is always quiet and depressed. When the boys turn 19, Gordon kills himself after having a conflict with the other three. Ten years later, the three boys reunite and trace back their childhood memories and secrets.

Actor Moon Tae-yu, Song Kwang-il, and Oh Seung-hun play Gordon.

‘Two Nights Three Days with Mom'

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the play "Two Nights Three Days with Mom" will be staged at the Seoul Arts Center from May 19 to 28.

Having a busy life, Mi-yeong finds it hard to spend time with her mother. She visits her mother's house for two nights and three days, during which they express their regrets, love and gratitude to each other. However, on the last day of her visit, Mi-yeong tells her mother a tragic secret.

Actor Kang Bu-ja plays the mother, and Jeon Mi-sun plays Mi-yeong.

‘The Bridges of Madison County'

"The Bridges of Madison County," a musical based on Robert James Waller's best-selling novel of the same name, will be staged at Chungmu Arts Center until June 18.

In Madison County, Iowa, lives an Italian-American woman, Francesca. She is married to a farmer and has two children, but feels lonely. One day, a photographer, Robert, visits her town to take pictures of the bridges in the area. As Francesca guides him to the bridges, they get irresistibly attracted to each other.

Actor Ok Joo-hyun plays Francesca, and Park Eun-tae plays Robert.

The musical "Dreamgirls" will be performed by its original Broadway cast at the Charlotte Theater until June 25.

Aspiring to stardom, three African-American girls _ Deena, Lorrell, and Effie _ form a girl group, the Dreamettes. With the help of their ambitious manager, Curtis, the Dreamettes become backup singers of James Thunder Early, a famous R&B singer. While the Dreamettes gradually gain public attention, Curtis comes up with another plan that could bring huge trouble to the group.

Broadway's all-time hit musical "Chicago" will be performed by its original cast at Blue Square on May 27 to July 23.

1920s Chicago is full of jazz, alcohol, violence and crime. Velma Kelly, a vaudevillian, gets arrested for murdering her husband and sister and goes to Cook County Jail. There, she draws the attention of the media with the help of prison guard "Mama" Morton, and becomes the most famous prisoner. However, a new prisoner, former chorus girl Roxie Hart, takes Velma's place and becomes the new center of attention.

Actor Terra MacLeod plays Velma, and Dylis Croman plays Roxie.

‘Ballet Gala’

June 17 and 18

Ballet Gala will be performed by the Korean National Ballet on June 17 and 18 at the Seoul Arts Center.

In this event, the Korean National Ballet will perform diverse pieces including “Don Quixote,” “Serenade,” and “Troy Game. “Serenade” was choreographed by George Balanchine to Tchaikovsky’s 1880 work, “Serenade for Strings. Presenting intrinsic beauty of human beings, the piece is considered one of the masterpieces of neo-classicism. “Troy Game” presents dance moves that combine ballet and martial arts, and criticizes male chauvinism.
