Despite the unsettled social atmosphere from last year’s Choi Soon-sil scandal starting off the year, there are still plenty of cultural performances ready to greet their audiences in 2017.
Pianist Cho Seong-jin kicked off the year with a solo recital Tuesday held for the first time since his triumph at the Chopin Piano Competition in 2015.
This year's culture performance lineup is as abundant as any other and the busiest months in the culture calendar will be March, April and November where many of the performances are scheduled. In particular, Broadway musical "Dreamgirls" will be performed for the first time in Seoul and Jose Carreras' "A Life in Music" Final World Tour will highlight the calendar which will be the legendary tenor's final stage in his music career. Other notable concerts include the World Orchestra Series featuring conductor Simon Rattle and Berlin Philharmonic with pianist Lang Lang.
The 12-month calendar will keep as a go-to reference for music lovers and give them a bird's eye view of what to look out for this year.
