Popular singer-songwriter Jung Jae-hyung is gathering fellow singers for a special concert this weekend.
As part of the ``Beautiful Singer Songwriter Series at the Theater,'' Jung will offer his works, ranging from electronic pop to classical music, with fellow singers You Hee-yeol, Kim Dong-ryul, Lucid Fall and Uhm Jung-hwa. The concert will take place at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts April 18-19.
The singer will experiment with electronic pop numbers from his recent album ``For Jacqueline,'' offering visitors the chance to listen to the tracks live, along with his other works from previous albums, original soundtracks and even his instrumental numbers.
Having lived and studied in Paris extensively, Jung will also offer visual art images that will move along with the music, a popular trend in Europe.
You, Kim and Lucid Fall will have their fair share of the program, as they have prepared some of their best works as well. You, who is in charge of the popular project group Toy, and balladeer Kim, won the Best Pop Song award and the Best Pop Album award at the Korean Music Awards this year, respectively, and fans will get to listen to their subtle melodies at the venue.
Lucid Fall will also present his works to fans, offering a different vibe than the other three artists. A well-known singer and composer, he earned his PhD in biotechnology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne last year.
Uhm, who met Jung as an actress and music director, will also appear at the venue to prove her friendship and perform a song she and Lucid Fall worked on for Jung's album.
Making his debut in 1995 as a member of the group ``Basis,'' Jung became famous for his thin yet emotional voice and both dramatic and touching songs. After releasing his first solo album ``Expectations'' in 1999, he flew to Paris to further study music, eventually graduating from Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, or the National School of Music of Paris, majoring in music for movies and composition. During his stay in France, the singer released his second album, ``The Second Sound,'' and composed music for movies such as ``Addiction'' (2002), ``Princess Aurora'' (2005) and ``Seducing Mr. Perfect'' (2006). Later, Jung established his career as a film score producer and artist but continued to release his own pop albums. In 2006, he held a concert in France to celebrate the 120th anniversary of Korea-France diplomatic relations. He was the first Korean pop singer to perform at the event.
In 2008, Jung experimented with electronic sounds, releasing his third album and his first in six years, ``For Jacqueline.'' The talented musician then turned toward writing with his sketch and photo book ``Jung Jae-hyung's Diary 2009'' last year.
The busy singer, writer, soundtrack director, pianist and composer will now share his musical journey with fans and friends.
