Ambiguity seems to be something readily embraced by world-renowned artist Roni Horn, who frequently draws attention to her unisex name. The artist, praised as one of the most important minimalists of the present age, makes her debut in Asia with a solo exhibition in Korea. Around 20 works will be showcased at the Kukje Gallery in Seoul until Oct. 20.
The exhibition will display the diverse art forms Horn works with, ranging from glass sculptures and photography to drawings and essays. Although different in form and structure, her works follow a common theme involving time, space, human experiences and memories. Her works often express philosophical ideas through the concise form of minimalism.
In particular, many of Horn's works play with ambiguity, being alike yet different. One way she touches on the topic is through photographs of people, rivers, hot springs and animals.
