North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s obesity might put the country as well as the world in peril, experts said.

His obesity is known as the central problem of his health. The man’s height is presumably 170cm, with weight of 100kg, according to Channel A, a cable TV outlet.

His Body Mass Index (BMI) is allegedly well over 30, which exceeds the normal range of 20 to 24, it said.

The number is defined as the individual's body mass divided by the square of their height. (kg/m2)

The chances of him suffering from a heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes caused and exacerbated by obesity will be great when he’s in his 50s,” Seoul National University professor Lee Wang-jae was quoted as saying.

The concern peaked when Kim had to give a speech at the second anniversary of his late father Kim Jong-il’s. He was short of breath, pausing every four seconds to inhale.

“Kim seems to have a problem in his lungs and the organs surrounding it making him harder to breathe. Continued neglect of his health will exacerbate his heart condition, which might lead to a heart attack,” Prof. Bae Myung-jin of Soongsil University’s information and telecommunication department was quoted as saying.

Kim’s father Kim Jong-il and grandfather Kim Il-sung both died of heart attacks, and his aunt Kim Kyong-hui is also known to have a heart condition.
