Korea to bolster digital cooperation with Latin American countries

Korea will strengthen cooperation with Latin American nations to help facilitate digital transformation and develop digital economy in the region, the science ministry said Wednesday.
The agreement was made at the fourth Korea-Latin America and Caribbean Digital Ministerial Conference held in Seoul after a six-year hiatus, according to the Ministry of Science and ICT. Science Minister Yoo Sang-im and digital ministry officials from 10 central and south American countries, including the Dominican Republic, Peru and Argentina, attended the conference.
In the conference, the ministers issued a joint statement calling for deeper cooperation between Seoul and Latin America to lessen the digital divide and promote a sustainable digital economy in the region.
The science ministry also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Inter-American Development Bank to support the digital infrastructure expansion and adoption of cutting-edge technologies in the region.
"The science ministry will share Korea's experience in devising digital policy to help other nations strengthen their digital policy capabilities and reduce the digital divide between nations," Yoo said. (Yonhap)
