Korea, Kazakhstan strengthen educational collaboration

Korea and Kazakhstan are strengthening their cooperation in education, following a recent visit by Kazakhstan's Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek.
Nurbek led a delegation of Kazakhstan's university presidents to participate in the Global Education and Innovation Summit 2024 in Korea on Aug. 27 and 28.
The event, marking the launch of the Global Education and Innovation Alliance, aimed to foster international partnerships in education and research.
Key agreements were signed during the summit, highlighting the deepening academic ties between Korea and Kazakhstan. Among them was a notable memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed for joint research in metallurgy and industrial technology.
Nurbek also signed an MOU to enhance collaboration in science and technology and academic exchanges between the two nations.
The visit also featured discussions between Satbayev University President Meiram Begentayev and Sungkyunkwan University President Yoo Ji-Beom, resulting in an agreement on dual degree programs.
One of the visit's highlights was Nurbek's talks with Korean Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Lee Ju-ho. The two leaders discussed the current state of educational cooperation, identifying key areas for future growth.
A successful collaboration between Korkyt Ata University and SeoulTech in establishing an AI school was praised as a model partnership.
Concluding the visit, the Ministry of Education signed an MOU with Kazakhstan's Ministry of Science and Higher Education, reinforcing their commitment to continued cooperation in education.
