The Embassy of Egypt in Korea held a reception commemorating the 71st anniversary of the July 23 Revolution that birthed the modern Egyptian Republic.

This revolution was a catalyst for significant changes in Egypt such as reforms, industrialization and advancements in human rights, reshaping the overall socio-political landscape of the country.

Egyptian Ambassador to Korea Khaled Abdel Rahman highlighted the friendship and cooperation between Korea and Egypt on the occasion.

"As we celebrate our rich cultural heritage and achievements throughout our history, we also recognize the importance of international cooperation in building strong, resilient communities," Rahman said during the reception held at the Army Club in Yongsan District, Seoul, Friday.

He continued to discuss the partnership between the two countries in various fields, including education, science and technology.

"As for Egyptian-Korean economic and development relations, I would like to mention that Egypt and Korea have recently witnessed an unparalleled level of collaboration, particularly in the area of development cooperation and execution of infrastructure projects," he said.

He noted the increased cooperation in the defense sector, giving examples of the joint manufacturing and acquisition of K9 self-propelled howitzers in addition to building two multi-purpose MPC14K ships.

"Korea is also cooperating on constructing Egypt's first Al-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant through Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP). Based on this cooperation, KHNP will build facilities and supply materials for the plant," Rahman added.

The ambassador concluded the speech, reaffirming the pledge to cultivate this friendship grounded in mutual respect, understanding and collaboration.
