German frigate Bayern visits Busan

People wave German flags welcoming the German frigate Bayern, entering port in Busan, Thursday. The 3,600-ton German frigate is making a port call in Busan until next Monday during its first deployment to the Indo-Pacific in 20 years. The naval vessel is taking part in monitoring U.N. sanctions against North Korea's illegal transshipments at sea. The German Embassy in Seoul said that the frigate's visit to Busan shows the strength of the Germany-Korea partnership in the Indo-Pacific region, supporting a rules-based international order in the fields of politics, economy, science and civil society, as well as in security policies.
