S. Korea, China discuss ways to boost cooperation on cybercrime
South Korea's police chief held talks with his Chinese counterparts in Beijing on Tuesday to discuss ways to bolster cooperation on cybercrime, repatriation of fugitives and anti-terrorism, officials said.
Kang Sin-myeong, Commissioner-General of the National Police Agency, arrived in Beijing earlier in the day on the final leg of his two-nation tour that included the United Arab Emirates.
Kang and his Chinese counterparts also discussed plans to form a three-way public safety consultative body with Japan, officials said.
The plan was proposed at a trilateral summit of leaders of South Korea, Japan and China in November last year.
South Korea and China signed a treaty for the repatriation of fugitives in 2002.
Last year, 38 South Korean criminal suspects who fled to China were returned home, while South Korea repatriated 10 Chinese fugitives. (Yonhap)
