KOCCA recruits talented musicians to showcase at global music market MU:CON

The Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) is looking for talented musicians to take part in MU:CON, one of its largest global music markets, which is scheduled to be held from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.

The state-run agency announced, Thursday, that it has begun the application process to recruit participating musicians for the fair. Local musicians of any genre, who have a record of their own songs, can apply through the agency's website until 10 a.m. on July 23.

The global music fair, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, started in 2011 to help build a platform between local musicians and global music industry professionals and experts. It intends to introduce and promote local musicians to overseas markets.

MU:CON 2021 will be held as an online event and streamed through KOCCA's official YouTube channel. The schedule includes various events, including showcases, conferences, business matching and networking.

Under the theme “A Decade of K-Pop and the Future Ahead,” this year's fair will also hold celebratory events, such as special performances and investor relations pitching programs with music tech companies.

The participating musicians will be provided with financial aid to produce videos for showcasing at the fair and a chance to interact with global music industry representatives. They will also receive PR support for online and offline promotions, including on social media, broadcasts, and the agency's website.

They will also be offered a chance to participate in the fair's new program, MU:CON Choice, which will fund their projects to enter the global music market.
