Swede Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, better known as PewDiePie, is the first individual YouTuber to have 100 million subscribers.
PewDiePie, 29, reached the towering position on Monday, nine years after he posted his
on his channel.
"We did it! What an unreal achievement! 100 000 000 thanks to all of you for the endless support and effort! I don't feel worthy, but I'm forever grateful," he tweeted on Monday. He then uploaded a video titled “
," in which he talked briefly about his success and then read posts about his wedding last week.
As of 10:38 a.m. Tuesday, he had 100,403,058 subscribers. The most-subscribed YouTube channel is T-Series, run by the same-branded Indian music label, which currently sits at 109 million subscribers.
He initially garnered attention with computer game-based videos spiced up with his witty commentary. The spectrum has expanded to vlog, an eating show and other non-game content as he commands global fandom.
