Singer So Hyang has divorced her husband after 25 years of marriage, with the news becoming public two years after the separation.

Her agency KQ Entertainment confirmed the divorce on Wednesday, saying, “So Hyang and her former spouse decided to support each other’s paths based on sufficient discussion and mutual respect.”

The agency said that the process was not the result of fault on either side but a mutual agreement, asking the public to refrain from speculation and harsh comments. “We will provide full support so that So Hyang can focus on her music activities, and we ask for continued encouragement for her future endeavors,” it said.

So Hyang married in 1998, tying the knot with a fellow member of the Christian music group POS, with whom she had performed. The couple had no children.

In an interview with Edaily, So Hyang revealed that the marriage ended in 2023. She said she was inspired to disclose the news now by a scene in Netflix’s animated film “KPop Demon Hunters,” in which the protagonist Rumi reveals hidden truths about herself. “Please support both me and my former husband as we move forward on our separate paths,” she said.
