K-pop group BTS member Jungkook has tested positive for the coronavirus, two days after he arrived in the United States for the 64th Grammy Awards and the group's live concert slated for next month.
The group's agency Big Hit Music shared the news on the fan community platform, Weverse, Tuesday.
The singer left for Las Vegas on Sunday, a day earlier than the rest of the group members, except for J-Hope, to prepare for a performance at this year's Grammy Awards, scheduled to be held on April 4 (local time). The group has been nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and will perform on stage during the ceremony.
Jungkook tested negative before his departure but was tested again after showing mild symptoms upon his arrival in Las Vegas, according to the agency.
“Jungkook does not have any other symptoms except for a mild sore throat but will be monitoring his health condition during the self-isolation period,” the agency said, adding that it is closely communicating with the Grammy's organizer for his scheduled acts. “We will follow the local guidelines to determine whether he will take part in future activities in the U.S.”
J-Hope also tested positive for the virus on Thursday, leaving him to join the group's U.S trip later after he is released from self-isolation.
