Singer Baron, a member of K-pop boy band VAV, will start his mandatory military service soon.

The group's agency A TEAM Entertainment said Tuesday that “Baron is joining the service on Sep. 7.” The agency said the group would resume its upcoming album schedule with the rest of the members ― Ayno, ACE, Lou, Ziu, Jacob, and St.Van.

The artist uploaded a handwritten letter on the group's fan website, Monday, announcing his enlistment.

“For a while, I will be serving military to take on the responsibility to protect our country and the citizens, as 29-year-old Choi Chung-hyup,” he said.

“You guys were the spotlight that lit my unlit path. I will return to you in a year and a half as a more mature man.”

Baron debuted in 2015 as a member of the septet with the mini-album “Under the moonlight.” The group has garnered global fame, touring several countries, including Brazil, the U.S, and India.

It also has worked with Grammy-awarded producer duo Play-N-Skillz and Puerto Rican artist De La Ghetto for the Latin-tinged single “Give Me More,” July 2019.

Meanwhile, VAV is gearing up to release an album, about 11 months after its fifth mini-album “POISON.”
