After breaking up with SM Entertainment, with which she had been for more than a decade as a member of top female band Girls' Generation, Tiffany returned with a new individual single on Friday.
The single, "Over My Skin," is Tiffany's first solo work since ending her contract with SM in October last year, according to Universal Music, the music label for the new release. She later signed a contract with a new U.S. management agency, Paradigm Talent Agency, and adopted a new stage name, "Tiffany Young."
The 29-year-old wrote the lyrics for and directed the visuals of the new single, which features retro R&B sounds and tells the story of a woman's self-awakening.
American hip hop and electronic music group Far East Movement and Jonathan Yip of Grammy-winning music production team The Stereotypes' collaborated to produce the song.
"This song is a reflection of (my) love of Britney Spears, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell and K-pop," Tiffany was quoted as saying.
"I am pleased that I have reached an age where I could think about failure, fear and rejection," she also said, attributing her new challenge to her supportive fans and family. (Yonhap)
