Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest electronics marker, is about to top the global TV industry for the seventh consecutive year in 2012 on the back of the robust sales of its latest smart TV along with other strong product lines.

The firm has taken the television experience to the next level with its smart TV ES8000 released in February. It features voice and motion recognition sensors enabling close interaction with viewers, as well as enhanced content and upgraded capabilities.

Samsung said the ES8000 is its latest smart TV that ensures top level video quality, content and design, an advanced version of its predecessors the ES7500 and ES7000.

Viewers can control the television via its motion and voice sensors without a remote control. The ES8000 also has a feature dubbed “smart evolution,” which allows users to constantly upgrade the television’s processors and software by plugging in a business card-sized evolution kit into the back of the television.

Samsung has strengthened its content by making it more family-oriented. Using “family story,” family members can share photos and chat via the television. “Fitness” guides users through simple exercises available at home while correcting posture thanks to an embedded camera within the TV. “Kids” allows parents to control the content and time their children spend time watching the screen.

The company was the first among global TV makers to introduce a new paradigm in content by opening an app store for smart TVs. Its store has over 1,500 apps for games, videos, information and lifestyle, available in 120 countries.

Additionally, the ES8000 boasts a post minimalism design that has a bezel thickness of 5 millimeters, allowing users to place the television in convenient locations.

The new product has received rave reviews from respected home entertainment reviewers in the United Kingdom such as “Home Cinema Choice,” “Trusted Review" and “What Hi Fi.” It was also awarded the “Queen Royal Warrant,” a mark of recognition from the British royal family, the first time a TV manufacturer has been granted one.

“Over half of TVs sold here are smart ones, meaning that offices and households are accommodating the revolutionary device at a fast pace,” a Samsung Electronics spokesman said. “To lead the explosive growth in the smart TV segment at home and abroad, we will continue developing more diverse apps and introduce a more user-friendly interface.”

Samsung's flat-screen TVs accounted for a 30.2 percent share of the global market in the first quarter of 2012, up from 26.6 percent in 2011 and 23.3 percent in 2010.

“We were the No. 1 in flat-screen, LCD, smart and 3D TV markets in all 24 European countries in the first half of this year. We expect to rank as the world No.1 this year for the seventh straight year,” the spokesman said.
