Seoul shares trade higher in late morning trade
South Korean stocks traded higher late Tuesday morning on gains in techs and carriers, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 0.83 percent, or 15.74 points, to 1,918.36 as of 11:20 a.m.
Tech blue chips continued to trade bullish, with Samsung Electronics adding 0.74 percent and top chipmaker SK hynix rising 0.96 percent. Samsung SDI moved up 2.26 percent.
Mobile carriers also gained, with No. 1 SK Telecom rising 1.31 percent and KT advancing 0.5 percent. LG Uplus climbed 2.11 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,083.55 won against the U.S. dollar as of 11:20 a.m., down 5.55 won from Monday's close. (Yonhap)
