SK Group to discuss AI ecosystem at APEC CEO Summit

SK Group said Sunday it will host the artificial intelligence (AI) session of the Future Tech Forum, scheduled to be held Oct. 28 in conjunction with the APEC CEO Summit in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province.
The conglomerate plans to discuss a national AI ecosystem with global AI industry leaders, renowned scholars and senior government officials at the event, introducing Korea's AI technology capabilities to the world.
SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, who is also chair of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry which is hosting the APEC CEO Summit, will deliver a keynote address at the session, outlining strategies for a sustainable AI ecosystem within Asia-Pacific countries.
Ha Jung-woo, presidential secretary for AI, is scheduled to present on Korea's experiences. Naver CEO Choi Soo-yeon, AWS CEO Matt Garman and others will provide attendees an opportunity to engage with global AI leaders.
The K-Tech Showcase will take place the same day at Gyeongju Expo Park, featuring the technologies of major Korean companies, including the AI data center solution jointly developed by SK Group affiliates including SK hynix, SK Telecom, SKC and SK Enmove.
"By introducing our capabilities in semiconductors, cooling, operations and security, visitors can witness what the future of our AI data center will look like," an SK Group official said.
Throughout the year, the group has focused on strengthening its competitiveness in the semiconductor, energy and service sectors, aiming to create value for the economy, society and all aspects of life through AI.
Last month, SK Group's major affiliates broke ground on the SK AI Data Center Ulsan, in partnership with AWS, with the goal of starting operations in 2027.
SK hynix, having dominated the high-performance AI memory market, has led the world in developing high-bandwidth memory (HBM).
SK Innovation is preparing to meet the large-scale power demands of AI data centers as the company pivots to liquefied natural gas, energy storage systems, renewables, hydrogen and small modular reactors.
Building on these achievements, SK Group will host its second annual SK AI Summit at Coex in Seoul Nov. 3 and 4. Collaborating with leading domestic and international AI companies, the group will discuss the latest technologies with startups and scholars.
