Huge asteroid likely to hit Earth in 2040

A large asteroid is expected to hit the Earth in about 30 years time, the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has reported.

NASA has identified the asteroid, which is 140 meters in diameter as a threat to the Earth and has predicted that it may hit on Feb. 5, 2040, the Daily Mail has reported.

NASA has warned that it might kill millions of citizens if it falls on a large city.

But it is probable that the asteroid could be spotted from a ground observatory between 2013 and 2016, giving scientists enough time to prepare for any collision or near miss.
