Irdeto brings latest security portfolio

Irdeto, a Netherlands-based software security and media tech firm, is tapping the Korean market with its latest security portfolio ― ActiveCloak.
Korea is the world’s most-wired society with Internet penetration reaching over 93 percent. Ironically, the nation has seen illegal downloads increasing. Consequently mobile security is one of the top concerns for policymakers.
Irdeto claimed that its ActiveCloak system is an improved security solution for media content based on the so-called dynamic security.
The company said the security solution is more than effective to protect media content on open platform devices such as tablets and smartphones. The number of smartphone users in Korea has surpassed 20 million.
``Our ActiveCloak is the right solution so long as to improve the global digital content market, which we see as vulnerable to hacking and there is rampant illegal downloading,’’ said Daniel Thunberg, vice president for marketing and sales of Irdeto’s Asia-Pacific rim, in a press conference held at a Seoul hotel.
``In particular, its introduction not only protects from the piracy of Korean movies and dramas which enjoy high popularity around the world, but also fulfills demanding security standards of Hollywood media companies. By doing so, anyone can enjoy high-quality media content easily and safely,’’ the executive told reporters, Thursday.
Irdeto’s South Korean debuts comes after it’s been splashing cash on search, discovery and anti-piracy firm BayTSP to further boost its content protection propositions.
BayTSP’s managed services technologies could be folded into Irdeto’s ActiveCloak solution and analysts said that will enable Irdeto to offer customers with actionable market feedback and analytics that it assures will be able to maximise content distribution and associated revenue.
``We are also positive that our solution can protect a user’s lifecycle because of various services including monitoring of hacker attacks, analysis of the attack, response and update and maintain the best security status,’’ the executive said.
Irdeto Korea has recently moved its local head office to downtown Seoul to better promote its solution portfolios.
