Do not go gentle into that good night, old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light, though wise men at their end know dark is right, because their words had forked no lightning they, do not go gentle into that good night.

POSCO Group Chairman Chang In-hwa attended the World Steel Association's general meeting in Berlin this week, calling for closer industry cooperation to accelerate the shift away from carbon-intensive steelmaking.
Chang represented the Korean steel industry at a meeting of the association’s executive committee — its highest decision-making body — on April 13. There, chief executives from China Baowu Steel Group, Japan’s Nippon Steel and India’s JSW Steel gathered to discuss long-term challenges, including the energy crisis, geopolitical risks and the international standardization of carbon emissions measurement.
The chairman stressed that decarbonization remains a shared imperative for the global steel industry despite structural headwinds from weakening demand and rising energy costs. He shared POSCO’s decarbonization road map with participants.
"Close cooperation and solidarity across the global steel industry are essential if we are to achieve a successful low-carbon transition and ensure that low-emission steel is properly valued in the market," Chang said.
On the sidelines, Chang held bilateral meetings with JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal and Hesteel Group Co-President Liu Jian to exchange views on overseas investments, carbon reduction technology and supply chain stabilization, while exploring new opportunities for business cooperation.
POSCO received the World Steel Association’s Sustainability Champion award for the fifth consecutive year, a recognition given to companies leading sustainable development in the steel industry.
The World Steel Association, which works to advance mutual understanding and development across the steel industry, counts 157 members including steelmakers, regional steel associations and research institutions worldwide.
