Dongwha Group Chairman Seung Myung-ho, who is also the chairman of The Korea Times and its sister paper, Hankook Ilbo, joined a campaign to reduce disposables, which was launched in February by Environment Minister Han Wha-jin, the company said Wednesday.
Participants upload messages on social media encouraging the use of reusable products and then nominated their friends to join the campaign as the next participants.
Recommended by Aju Group Chairman Moon Kyu-young, Seung picked Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo and NongHyup Financial Group Chairman Lee Suk-joon as the next participants.
“It was very meaningful for me to join the environment ministry-led zero disposable campaign,” Seung said. “I will conduct various activities for eco-friendly management.”
Dongwha Enterprise, the group’s wood panel manufacturing unit, has made various efforts to reduce the use of disposables, such as using personal reusable cups instead of disposable paper cups and encouraging meetings without hard-copy documentation.
