Samsung Electronics and LG have released videos commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Korea-U.S. alliance, expressing respect and gratitude to the Korean War veterans at Times Square in New York, company officials said Thursday.
Ten Korean War veterans are introduced in the 30-second video produced by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, accompanied by messages of gratitude. The video will be screened for two weeks starting Thursday.
The 10 heroes selected included General Douglas MacArthur, who successfully led the Incheon Landing Operation, and General James Van Fleet, who lost his son Captain James Van Fleet Jr. in battle, as father and son participated in the war together.
The dedication video contains the message, "The freedom, prosperity and peace we enjoy today are thanks to the sacrifices of veterans from far away. We will forever remember the sacrifice and dedication of the heroes of the Korean War."

Through the video, Samsung and LG express their gratitude to the veterans who contributed to making Korea what it is today and convey to the world the strong friendship between Korea and the U.S. that has lasted for 70 years.
Samsung has been steadily supporting veterans and their descendants since the early 1990s. In 1996, Samsung donated 5 million dollars to the American Legion, providing scholarships to descendants of Korean War veterans, memorial projects such as the establishment of a memorial park and support for medical services.
In recognition of these efforts, in 2013, Samsung became the first Korean company to be awarded the Patriot Award by the American Veterans Association. In addition, Samsung held a sponsorship ceremony for the Korean War Veterans Foundation at the U.S. House of Representatives in 2015 and donated $1 million to the creation of the Korean War Memorial.
Since 2020, LG Electronics has been carrying out the LG Hope Village project to provide comfortable housing and improve the educational environment for Korean War veterans and their descendants in Ethiopia.
