Samsung expanded 'untact' service at its stores and repair centers as part of its effort to take quarantine action and allay customers' concerns over COVID-19.
Starting in March, the motor company started a month-long program to pick up, repair and deliver any model of Renault Samsung cars for customers who wish to keep social distance amid fears of virus infection. Customers only need to register the car pick-up and drop-off point.
The delivery service costs 10,000 won on a basic rate for the first 10 kilometers followed by an additional 1,000 won per 1 kilometer. The service offers free for delivery within the same town as the service center.
Cars damaged in accidents are not eligible for the pick-up and delivery service.
Customers can either call customer service at 080-300-3000 or visit a Renault Samsung dealer nearby to register for the 'untact' repair service. They can also make a reservation online through the motor company's mobile application or on the official website.
The carmaker is also taking preventive measures at their shops where the number of customers increased recently due to the launch of its new compact sport utility vehicle, XM3.
It is carrying out disinfection at all stores across the country every day and all the workers are obliged to wear a face mask. The tables where salesmen and customers sit down to talk are cleaned every hour and all cars have to go through sterilization before entry and exit.
Customers are required to undergo thermal screening to assess their body temperature upon arrival and they are encouraged to use hand sanitizer frequently.
Meanwhile, Renault Samsung started the very first 'untact' sale of vehicles here and it is receiving positive feedback. It made 24 percent of XM3's preorders online by offering a special promotion last September targeted at youth.
According to the carmaker, it signed over 8,540 contracts for XM3 purchase as of March 8, which is a remarkable number in the economy which has been struck by the new coronavirus pandemic.
“We've strengthened our untact service for customers who wish to minimize their contact between individuals due to the new coronavirus,” said a Renault Samsung official. “We will do our best to take full preventive measures for our customers' safety and health.”
