Hyundai Motor will launch an Avante sedan with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine on Monday, targeting customers at home and abroad who want a passenger sedan with upgraded performance and safety.

The car has the automaker’s latest “high-tech package,” which features automatic emergency brake, smart cruise control and other improved safety and performance features.

Korea’s largest carmaker said Sunday that it will begin selling the Avante sedan with a 2.0-liter continuously variable valve timing (CVVT) engine on Monday. The company says the engine is more powerful and efficient than the engine in previous models.

In September, the company launched “super normal” Avante, the sixth-generation flagship compact with a 1.6-liter engine.

The latest Avante model has a combined fuel economy of 12.8 kilometers per liter. The 2.0-liter gasoline CVVT engine can generate 149 horsepower with a maximum torque of 18.3 kilogram meters.

Prices range from 19.34 million won to 22.58 million won, depending on options.

The vehicle will make its international debut at the LA Auto Show in the U.S. next week.

More than 10 million Avante vehicles have been sold since the 1990, when the Avante was launched, and 2014.

Last year alone, 930,000 cars were sold at home and abroad, making it the world’s third-highest selling car.

The company said that in developing its latest model, Hyundai focused on the basics of safety and driving performance.

“Generation after generation, Avante has been our growth driver in the global market,” a Hyundai Motor spokesman said.

“Our high-tech package, which has attracted considerable praise, will make our latest Avante sedan more comfortable and safer for everyone.”

The high-tech package includes an automatic emergency brake system, a smart cruise control system, a lane departure warning system, a high beam assist system and other features that have so far been installed only in the automaker’s luxury sedan models such as Genesis and Equus.
