NTS likely to order Samsung to pay additional tax
The tax agency will likely order Samsung Electronics Co. to pay at least 100 billion won (US$89.04 million) in unreported tax and related penalties, sources said Monday.
The order will be made soon as the National Tax Service (NTS) is wrapping up its regular tax audit this week into the nation's largest electronics giant. The examination started in July last year.
The amount that Samsung has to pay has yet to be determined but it will be well over 100 billion won, the sources said. That is much higher than the 18 billion won the company was ordered to pay following a regular tax audit in the second half of 2007.
Samsung is expected to appeal such a payment order by the NTS as both reportedly have very different views on the results of the audit, the sources said. (Yonhap)
