Doosan Infracore, South Korea’s biggest manufacturer of construction equipment, including excavators and forklift trucks, has revised its sales target in the Chinese machine tool market up by 30 percent this year.

``We are aiming to reap $170 million in sales in China’s machine tools market and we are confident we will achieve the target considering the rising demand for such related equipment in the economy,’’ a company spokesperson said Friday.

``It is also possible to get $300 million in sales in that segment by 2012 as we are planning to transform our selling post in China into a key spot for the global markets,’’ an official said.

Doosan unveiled 25 such products for the Chinese market, including those displayed at the ``Doosan International Machine Tools Fair 2008’’ held in Yantai. Since 2006, Doosan has been embracing the fair as a springboard for a bigger share in China.

The company took over Yantai Yuhua Machinery in 2007, enlarging its presence in China by manufacturing forklifts, machine tools, loaders and engines. Doosan has now sold 49,000 excavators in China, ranking it the No. 1 in the market for six consecutive years.

Doosan has consolidated its international position through acquisitions of HCNG Engine Technology and Bobcat, a maker of small earth-moving equipment formerly owned by Ingersoll-Rand.
