LG Chem President and CEO Kim Bahn-suk will receive a ``Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merits’’ from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy Monday for contributing to the domestic chemical industry this year, according to the company Sunday.
Kim, 58, was recognized for having tried to make chemicals a main export industry, focusing on nano-technology and other future technologies and fortifying the competitiveness of the country’s components and materials industry.
Kim, who majored in the chemical engineering at Seoul National University, is one of the representative CEOs in the country’s chemical industry. LG Chem also won the ``Tower of $5 Billion Export’’ prize earlier this year for the first time as a chemicals firm.
