KB Financial Group held the first exhibition of its "Star Friends" characters, Tuesday, according to the firm.

The event will run through Feb. 29 next year in the lobbies of KB Kookmin Bank’s new building in Yeouido, a nearby branch close to Saetgang Station on Seoul Metro Line 9 and the Sillim Line, and at Live and Live studio in Itaewon.

The promotion of the KB characters aims to enhance communication with bank customers.

The five characters — a rabbit, a duck, a bear, a lama and a stem of broccoli — become close friends with one another under the theme of “Happy Daily Life of Star Friends on Earth.”

Visitors can take pictures with the characters set up at the locations. A variety of character merchandise will be available there.

Among them is a wine collection that also displays fruit produced locally. The event was organized to support small farmers and ingredient suppliers.

The characters' illustrations can be viewed at starfriends.kbfg.com.

KB Financial first introduced the characters in October 2020, and has since expanded its customer base through online ads and social media.

“This exhibition seeks to familiarize more customers with the Star Friends characters,” a KB Financial official. “We will continue to bolster customer communications.”

The net income of KB Finanicial Group, according to market watchers, will come to 5.03 trillion won ($3.88 billion) this year, up 20.5 percent from the year before.

The priorities of the group's newly appointed Chairman Yang Jong-hee include the IT and digital sectors, areas he said will underpin sustainable growth.
