[Editorial] Toward gender equality
President Yoon Suk-yeol has been the target of criticism for his apparent lack of conviction and willingness to tackle gender inequality. This issue emerged once again during a press conference on May 21 following his summit with visiting U.S. President Joe Biden, when a journalist from Washington Post threw a question to Yoon regarding his male-dominated Cabinet. 윤석열 대통령은 성 ...

[Editorial] Approval of PM nominee
The National Assembly confirmed Prime Minister-nominee Han Duck-soo at its plenary session Friday. The approval came 47 days after President Yoon Suk-yeol nominated Han and 10 days after the Yoon administration took office. It is belated but welcome that the new administration has ended makeshift operations and now has a formal Cabinet. 국회는 금요일 본회의에서 한덕수 국무총리 후보자를 인준했다. 이번 인준...

[Editorial] Discourteous and undiplomatic

Wang, who came here to attend Yoon's inauguration ceremony as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy, offered a five-point proposal designed to promote bilateral relations further. Most notably, he cited the ne...

[Editorial] Full-scale rebuilding
HDC Hyundai Development has decided to demolish all eight apartment buildings at a complex in Gwangju under construction and rebuild them. The builder decided so, judging that it could hardly dissipate would-be residents' safety concerns if it rebuilds only one partially collapsed building. We hope the decision will ultimately serve as an occasion for the company facing a cri...
