Tiny eastern island excited as hometown player wins first medal
A wrestler from the country's tiny Ulleung Island of the east coast made history for his hometown by reaching the podium in the 2018 Asiad in Indonesia. Nam Koung-jin, 29, won a bronze medal in the men's 125- kilometer freestyle wrestling, Monday, becoming the first Ulleung islander to win an Asian Games medal.

Two convicted of selling fake IDs to foreigners
Two people were convicted of forging and selling fake IDs to foreigners, Wednesday. In the Uslan District Court, a Korean man, 42, received an eight-month suspended jail term, while a Vietnamese woman, 31, was given a four-month suspended term. They sold a forged ID card to a Vietnamese for 3 million won ($2,677) in January.
Gov't to launch online job reference service for foreigners
Foreigners will be able to apply online for a job reference for their expertise from the government, starting July 2. Now they have to fill out paper forms.The Ministry of Justice said on Wednesday the new service will be available through its website.

Cat blamed for house fire
A cat has been blamed for causing a fire that damaged a home in Seoul. According to the Seoul Guro Fire Station and police, the fire started on the third floor of a five-story building at around 9:35 p.m. on Saturday.
Korean missionary alleges Manila police used scam to lock him up
A Korean missionary who has been living in the Philippines for 18 years has been detained for a month for allegedly possessing illegal weapons. Police arrested the man, surnamed Baek, 48, on May 30 and he is being held in the Antipolo Police Station in Manila.
