Weber Shandwick appointed Claudia Hong as executive vice president of corporate affairs, the public relations company said Monday.

"In this strategic role, Hong will play a pivotal part in shaping and driving corporate and public affairs strategies aligned with organizational goals in the dynamic Korean market," the company said.

Before joining Weber Shandwick, Hong served as a senior foreign attorney and director of business development at Shin & Kim, one of Korea's top law firms. She also held positions at Kim & Chang, BNY Mellon, U.S. Department of the Treasury and Weber Shandwick's New York headquarters.

Hong will assist Elizabeth Bae, managing director of Weber Shandwick Korea, in providing communication strategy and reputation management consulting to major multinational companies based both domestically and abroad.

She will also provide crisis management and communication consulting, spanning from issues of regulations to mergers and acquisitions.

"We are thrilled to welcome Claudia to lead our Corporate Affairs practice in Korea," Bae said. "Claudia's expertise in legal, regulatory affairs and corporate governance, coupled with her proven track record in strategic communications, makes her an invaluable addition to our team."
