GM Daewoo Auto & Technology celebrated the first anniversary of its corporate blog, GM Daewoo Talk Square (http://blog.gmdaewoo.co.kr), Monday.
Since it was launched on Aug. 16 last year, the GM Daewoo blog has attracted over 1.1 million visitors. The blog has an average of 3,000 visitors daily.
``With recent developments in social media and mobile devices, the gap between the company and our customers is rapidly closing. It has changed the way we communicate as a company,’’ said Kim Myung-ki, GM Daewoo online communications team leader, in a statement.
By using the blog and Twitter to provide helpful car-related information, Kim said, GM Daewoo has made itself more approachable to its customers.
To mark its anniversary, the GM Daewoo blog introduced a more effective system to encourage netizens to participate and communicate. A bulletin board has been opened to allow customers to share information related to automobiles, as well as a newsroom where GM-related news, photos and videos can easily be disseminated.
The GM Daewoo blog has been featuring contributions from 20 company staff and guest bloggers. Bloggers have written about motor racing, travel, car maintenance tips and other useful information for readers.
The blog also recently featured photos about the company’s Alpheon model’s anniversary, as well as a message from GM Daewoo president and CEO Mike Arcamone about the company's second quarter profits and the new General Motors CEO Dan Akerson, who will assume office in September.
In the future, the blog will add more information about trendy urban lifestyles with GM Daewoo vehicles.
The GM Daewoo blog operates separately from the corporate website www.gmdaewoo.co.kr, which provides detailed information about GM Daewoo vehicles such as the Veritas, Tosca, Lacetti Premiere, Winstorm, Matiz and Alpheon.
