Korea's major conglomerates are displaying their state-of-the-art hydrogen technologies at the nation's largest industry fair, with a view to promoting eco-friendly energy use.
Hyundai Motor Group is one of the front-runners in the area. The company and its key affiliates showcased up-to-date feats in its group-wide hydrogen fuel ecosystem during the H2 Mobility Energy Environment Technology fair.
The event, which runs for three days from Wednesday, marks its fourth anniversary and is considered the most renowned hydrogen-focused exhibition. A group of 150 policymakers and hydrogen industry leaders are participating in this year's event.
Hyundai has been attracting keen attention from the market with its diverse hydrogen technologies, showcasing its hydrogen-powered electric truck and moving hydrogen charging stations.
The company separated its booths into three categories to explain why hydrogen is good for the environment and how it can contribute more to society.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction promoted its efforts to become more environmentally friendly by using hydrogen and biotechnology. The company began securing original technology for the research of biogas in 2008.
POSCO Group is showcasing its hydrogen technologies at the exhibition. Six of its affiliates including POSCO International and POSCO Mobility Solution promoted its complete value chain powered by its hydrogen businesses, the company said.
"Visitors to our booth will be able to understand the overall hydrogen business value chains of POSCO affiliates and our efforts to go green in overseas markets ― including Australia," an official from the company said.
Hanwha Group's seven affiliates also unveiled a "combined value chain using hydrogen" under which the group can produce, store and transport hydrogen, the company said.
For instance, Hanwha Solutions is showcasing a tank used for storing and transporting hydrogen stably.
Hanwha Aerospace is displaying a lightweight hydrogen fuel cell that can be applied to urban aerial mobility and Hanwha Ocean is showing off a submarine model powered by its hydrogen fuel system, according to the company.
