Syrup uses the company's big data to provide differentiated services to mobile customers.
It integrates the company's three existing services; OK Cashbag, a cash reward and discount service network; Gifticon, a mobile couponing service; and Smart Wallet, a mobile payment app.
"Korean customers have been adopting mobile commerce, and the boundaries between on-line and off-line commerce are also crumbling down," said So Jin-woo, CEO of SK Planet during a briefing session.
The CEO noted that Syrup is a customized service, providing coupons and discount benefits based on the individual's consumption patterns.
The company said it plans to set up around 200 virtual zones at core business districts nationwide so that customers can be offered shopping information through their smartphones when they enter into the zone.
Customers will be also offered customized coupons according to their shopping patterns and preferences.
"SK Planet will show a new paradigm through innovation of off-line commerce, as more than 1.7 million stores are our potential partners," the CEO said.
The company plans to offer the service as an "integrated commerce" platform that customers and service providers can easily communicate and share information before and after transactions, So added.
With the launching of the integrated service, Smart Wallet and Gifticon will be integrated into Syrup.
