LG Electronics launched the world's first wireless OLED TV in the European market, following a launch in the U.S. this month, seeking to expand its presence in the premium TV sector, the TV maker said Sunday.

The company said it launched the LG Signature OLED M wireless OLED TV, ranging from the 97-inch model― the world's largest OLED TV ― to the 87-inch and 77-inch versions, targeting the ultra-large-sized premium TV segment.

The LG Signature OLED M TV uses wireless audio and video signals to remove all wires except the power supply so the product can eliminate the inconvenience of complicated connections. The product comes with a Zero Connect Box that can wirelessly transmit high-definition images with 4K resolution and a 120-hertz refresh rate within 10 meters of the TV.

By placing the Zero Connect Box next to a couch or under a nightstand in the living room, users can eliminate the clutter of wires around the TV screen and the need for a cabinet.

“By connecting your peripherals to the Zero Connect box in your living room, next to the couch or under a nightstand, you can eliminate the clutter of wires around your screen,” the company said.

LG expects the latest OLED TV will cater to growing demand for ultra-large premium TVs. According to the data from market researcher Omdia, the shipment of TVs with over 75-inch screens will grow more than 20 percent in the global market year-on-year in 2023.

The product, which made its debut in the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, has been received well overseas. U.S. tech review site Tom's Guide gave LG Signature M the Best New Product of 2023, saying the TV “looks absolutely immaculate in a living room without compromising LG's OLED performance prowess.”

In addition to the OLED TVs, LG also launched new premium LCD TVs called LG QNED TVs in North America and Europe. LG added it has 22 models of QNED TVs, nearly half of which are 75 inches or larger.

To appeal more to the consumers, LG is strengthening its content offering. LG Channel, a free content service channel provided for LG TV consumers, has seen a significant increase in subscribers from about 20 million at the beginning of 2022 to about 50 million at the present. Through the service, users can enjoy college football and basketball leagues in the U.S., and movies and dramas in Europe.

“With the world's first wireless OLED TV and premium LCD TV LG QNED, we will provide customers around the world with an immersive and ultra-large viewing experience,” SP Baik, vice president of TV Product Planning division at LG, said.
