Trying to quit caffeine? Try blue light, which has the same effects as caffeine but without as much side effects. |
Caffeine in coffee is well known for its ability to help people focus or study.
On the other hand, caffeine can have adverse effects such as increased heart rate, quick tempers, and sleep deprivation. Thus, some people try to give up caffeine.
For those who want to avoid all the side effects of caffeine, blue light helps.
Blue light has been associated with sleep disruption. The blue light from smartphones and other electronic devices can disrupt sleep behavior. The blue light suppresses melatonin, which is a chemical that controls the body's internal clock.
A research from Mid Sweden University found blue light and caffeine had similar effects.
Blue light can improve memory, perception and reflex abilities. It has no effect on tissues or cells, and it is strong enough to trigger biological effects in the body.
"Blue light can make the brain more alert and improve biological functions," said the research team.
Blue light can be accessed from LED light bulbs and smartphone apps.
