Walking an hour a day can help reduce the risk of breast cancer, a recent study has shown.
The American Cancer Society studied 97,785 women aged 50-74 from 1992 to 2009. Of these, 4,760 came down with breast cancer. The BBC and Health Daily reported the findings on Oct. 4.
Compared to women who walked three hours a week, those who walked seven hours had a 14 percent less risk of getting the disease.
The women walked an average of 4.8 kilometers a day.
Body weight and hormones were not taken into consideration.
