Samsung Electronics is in talks with Boeing to boost its partnership.
"Samsung is interested in supplying entertainment and telecom network equipment for Boeing aircraft," a Samsung official said Friday.
A deal would help Samsung promote its technology prowess and boost its reputation with corporate clients.
Samsung Electronics is cutting its reliance on the business-to-consumer (B2C) segment, which is cyclical and highly volatile, and is expanding its business with corporate clients.
Over the past few years, the two companies have strengthened their strategic business tie-up, with senior Boeing executives frequently visiting Samsung headquarters to seek new ways to collaborate.
Samsung Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong bought a second Boeing 737-700 last year.
In 2012, Samsung signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Boeing to research and develop technologies that improve in-flight entertainment and communication.
Boeing said the two companies were interested in pursuing technologies associated with next-generation wireless systems for onboard applications.
"Samsung brings extensive knowledge of display, wireless network and low-power consumption technologies," Boeing said at that time. "Boeing brings knowledge of how wireless networks work in the airplane cabin environment, how they integrate with other systems on the airplane, and passenger behavior and expectations."
