Renault Samsung's SM3 sedan is getting attention for its sizable interior space among young motorists planning for winter vacation.
Its SUV-like trunk space is good enough to carry skiing or snowboarding equipment in winter, a Renault Samsung official said.
The SM3 sedan has a trunk capacity of 498 liters, much larger than competing makes such as Hyundai Motor Avante's 407 liters and Kia Motors' Optima's 420 liters. The official also said its trunk is even larger than some of the small-size SUV models such as Ssangyong Motor's Tivoli.
The SM3 is 4,620 millimeters long and 1,475 millimeters tall with a 2,700 millimeter wheelbase. The official said the SM3 also has more interior space, being 50 millimeters longer and 35 millimeters taller than the Avante sedan.
"Vehicles this size with good fuel efficiency are popular among those planning for winter vacation," said the official. "With its large trunk, the SM3 is the best model especially for young married couples."
The SM3 also offers high fuel efficiency to lessen the financial burden on young motorists during their winter trips. The gasoline model averages 15 kilometers per liter mileage while the diesel model averages 17.7 kilometers per liter. The competing gasoline model Avante averages 13.7 kilometers per liter while the 2017 Kia K3 sedan averages 14.3 kilometers per liter.
In a bid to promote the SM3's excellence, Renault Samsung has held various events, including the recent "Live Music Event with the SM3," Dec. 1.
A total of 100 visitors consisting of consumers, reporters and car company executives participated in the event to experience the SM3.
Participating consumers also said the SM3's reasonable price range is another advantage. The model is priced between 15 million and 20 million won.
