Samsung said Thursday that its TV unit chief will share not only the company's vision as a global leading IT company but also the role of corporations to make the world greener and fairer for all during the pre-show keynote address at a hotel in Las Vegas, Jan. 4.
“Han will present the company's vision for 'age of togetherness,' meaning that technology needs to exist together with people and for the planet,” Samsung said. “The keynote is a call to action to mitigate climate change and the company will show how everyone can do their part in building a sustainable planet.”
Han has been leading the TV business of Samsung since 2017. The company is the world's largest TV manufacturer, maintaining the biggest share in the global TV market for since 2006.
Samsung added the president will also talk about “how customized and connected experiences will enrich people's lives.”
Announcing Han will be a speaker for the event, Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), an organizer for the CES event, said: “Since early 2020, people have changed how they live, work and play. Technology is solving people's problems and connecting us to each other. More, innovation has accelerated. Samsung is an incredibly innovative company and we look forward to hearing Mr. Han's vision of a greener world reimagined through technology.”
The CTA also announced the winners of its Innovation Awards, given to companies that show distinguished technology, engineering and design of products. Korea's Samsung and LG were both recognized for their technological capabilities, winning numerous innovation awards.
Samsung won 43 Innovation Awards while LG Electronics won 24 awards. Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip3 Bespoke Edition notably won the Best of Innovation Award. “Galaxy Z Flip3 is a foldable smartphone with a bold design and all-new functionality. Now, with Galaxy Z Flip3 Bespoke Edition, you have the power to personalize each part of that design to truly express of yourself,” the CTA said.
LG's OLED TV has been recognized with the Innovation Award, for 10 consecutive years. Other award-winning products include the LG tiiun, a new concept for growing plants indoors, and its LG InstaView French-Door Refrigerator.
SK Innovation won the award with its NCM9 battery that has a proportion of nickel up to around 90 percent. “Nickel is a mineral that has the greatest influence on battery output and driving range.
