NCSOFT is under fire for allegedly covering up several sexual harassment cases that forced female victims to leave the firm.
The controversy ignited after the allegations first surfaced on Blind, an online community forum for office workers.
According to sources in the game industry, the post was titled, "Reasons not to work for NCSOFT Entertainment's business division," on Blind.
"NCSOFT Entertainment's business division is famous for sexual harassment, but there have been no changes or consequences for the perpetrators, who continue to work there. Even those who are famous for sexually harassing female workers went through internal investigation with no problems being addressed and they continue to work as normal," the writer wrote. "Most of the female victims resigned. They testified and turned in evidence to the company but there was no disciplinary committee meeting held. There are three to four victims that have already resigned. The superiors know about the situation, but they are trying to avoid responsibility."
According to the post's author, the various sexual harassment cases include the following: intentionally making female workers work late and taking them back home in a perpetrator's car, caressing the female workers' necks and hair, calling them after work to give advice, trying to set up drink dates, spreading rumors of inappropriate relations with superiors and holding one-on-one meetings or meals, citing work reasons.
"Our ethics management committee started their investigation as soon as the case was received. The involved individuals were excluded from their current duties and put on standby," an NCSOFT representative said. "We are taking steps to clarify the facts and to prevent additional related problems. We will take additional disciplinary actions once more facts are known."
"We have strict standards regarding this issue, are taking the matter seriously and will swiftly proceed with the corresponding procedures," the company added.
