Won Sung-shik has been newly appointed as IBM Korea's country general manager (CGM). Outgoing CGM Song Khee-hong has been appointed as managing partner of Global Business Services (GBS) Korea and ASEAN.
Won joined IBM Korea in 1991 and has gained experience and expertise across several of IBM's businesses, including hardware, marketing, global technology services and finance. While he worked for SK Telecom from 2011 to 2015, Won successfully led the company's enterprise solutions business. Before being appointed as the new CGM of IBM Korea, Won led IBM Korea's Technology Group, which includes systems hardware, cloud and cognitive software, and partner businesses.
"I feel honored with great joy to be the leader of the organization where I started my career and I look forward to leading the company through the next phase of its growth in South Korea,” Won said.
“Through IBM's differentiated strategy focused on hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, we will position ourselves as a business partner that plays a pivotal role in our clients' growth. As we have done so far, we will keep listening to our customers with an open mind and continue contributing to the growth and success of local companies with all IBM Korea employees."
IBM said the appointment of the new CGM will enable it to offer cutting-edge technological services and products to help clients achieve their growth targets.
"Korean clients are world-leading early adopters of technologies that enable business transformation, advance innovation and reshape the customer experience,” IBM Asia Pacific General Manager Brenda Harvey said. “I have every confidence that Won Sung-shik will provide strategic advice and counsel to our clients as they continue this journey, while Song Khee-hong will expand the leadership he has shown beyond Korea to serve our clients across the ASEAN region.”
