Cleveland Indians outfielder Choo Shin-soo had multiple hits in a Major League Baseball (MLB) spring training game Thursday (KST).
At Goodyear Ballpark, Arizona, Choo recorded three hits with two RBIs and two runs against Kansas City Royals in an 8-7 win, seeing his batting average rise to .311.
The 28-year-old got off to a hot start.
With runners on the third base Choo generated a RBI-double off Royals starter Nathan Adcock in the first inning.
He advanced to third thanks to Adcock’s balk, and rounded home plate thanks to an Orlando Cabrera hit.
Choo had another hit in the third and earned a RBI in the eighth.
He received high praise from Yahoo Sports. “Without Choo, the Indians’ hope to make the postseason this October will drastically be reduced,” it said.
It went on to say that the Korean’s value on the field is his consistency at the plate. For the last two seasons Choo batted .300 recording more than 20 home runs and 20.
Choo is also noted for his fielding ability. “He was American League leader in outfield assists in 2010,” said Yahoo Sports.
