The KCC Eigs cut the playoff series deficit to 2-1 with an 89-78 win over the Ulsan Mobis in Jeonju, Sunday.
Veteran Choo Seung-gyun scored 13 out of 19 points in the third quarter, and American center Terrance Leather and point guard Kang Byung-hyun posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds and 10 points and 10 boards apiece to help the home side to its first win in the best-of-seven series.
``One is not enough. The foremost goal is to get back to square one before Game 5 in Seoul.'' Egis coach Hur jae said.
``The endurance of strength was the key for both teams, and Choo Seung-gyun did better than I expected. He has been a role model for his teammates to follow.''
In the 13-year history of the finals, teams which grabbed a 2-0 lead have lifted the trophy 12 times.
The Hyundai Dynat, the forerunner of the Egis, were the only team to break the run, as they rebounded from 2-0 down to win the championship against the Kia Motors, the predecessor of the Mobis, in the 1997-98 season.
The Egis entered the second half with a two-point advantage at 36-34, but Park Jong-cheon hit a 3-pointer and Ham Ji-hoon added two under the rim to allow the visitors to take control.
Choo, 35, came up with a 3-pointer despite being fouled and he converted the free throw for a four-point play.
A few minutes later with the Egis up 43-42, he drove to the basket to make it a three-point game and later again, made a three-point play for a 50-42 lead.
The swingman opened the final period, hitting a jumper and sparking his team to a 10-point cushion.
With more than two minutes to play, Kang nearly sealed the win, hitting from beyond the arc to make it 81-69.
Ham, who averaged 25.5 in the series, managed to score two in the first half, while center Bryant Dunston of the United States was held scoreless after intermission.
Game 4 will take place Wednesday in Jeonju.
